My visit to the Extreme Makeover Home Edition Jobsite in my purple hardhat.

by Jesshampson on January 14, 2010

Yesterday was such an awesome day! I got to go out to the Extreme Makeover Home Edition job site in Galveston, Texas AND wear my new awesome purple hardhat that I got for Christmas.  What could be better, right?

When I got on site it was just incredible to see all these people pitching in their time, money, and skills to give the Beach family a new home. Even the neighbors had all donated their homes and front lawns for catering tents, medical areas and staff meetings. It was just unbelievable!

Despite the cold weather, everyone was smiling and working hard to meet their deadline for the reveal which is TODAY!!! I get all warm and fuzzy just thinking about how much better off that family is going to be.

I put together a video of all the pictures that have been taken over the past couple days by our team.  When you watch, keep in mind that this house was built and decorated in 106 hours.  The show makes it look like it takes a week, but that is definitely not true.

Something to ponder….if we can build a house in 106 hours, think about all the other homes we could fix that are still unlivable due to Ike damage.

Congrats to the CMC team in Texas City for getting involved with such a great cause!  The show is set to air in the spring and will be a 2 hour special!  Just goes to show, yet again, that everything is bigger in Texas!

Jess,
I am so happy to see the work that was given for the Beech family! I grew up with this family in the Clear Lake area, and they are the most deserving set of people you will ever meet! I wish I could have taken part of the building, and its great to see others around me who are able to give so much.

Take care,
