I am not a very big shopper. In fact, most of the time when it comes to clothes shopping I would rather run 5 miles in high heels than shop. There is just something about it. I mean sometimes if the stars are all aligned, I get out of the right side of the bed, and I am in just the right mood I will go and browse, but this is once in a blue moon.
There is something else that I do love to shop for, though, and that is books…
I LOVE bookstores. I was looking at my bookshelves earlier this evening and I must have bought over 50 books in 2009, most of which I can say I have read cover to cover.
I was actually tweeting the other day about how the bookstore has the power to heal my soul and I am dead serious about that. I like it not only because I am surrounded by a wealth of knowledge that is just waiting to be discovered, but I constantly look around and see books that remind me of the people that I love in my life. Plus I have this really strange love for the smell of new books and the sound of the binding cracking as you open a fresh one, these things bring a smile to face every time.
The other night I spent 3 hours browsing Barnes & Noble after a really bad day at work. Not only did I come out healed, but with a ton of books to enrich not only my life but the lives of the people that I care about the most.
