Come 6 o’clock my apartment becomes a hubbub of news and stories as my roommate and I plop on the couch to rehash our days at work. Majority of days are fabulous. She tells me about the adorable children she gets to take care of, and what token of appreciation her Secret Santa has left her. I get to share stories of my hilarious co-workers and all the random things I see on the internet as I try to widen the digital reach of the company I work for.
After a particular shitastic day, my roommate came home and yelled “I can’t stand incompetent people!” and I yelled back “I don’t understand what joint sealant is!” and she yelled “I have to be at work at 6AM tomorrow!” and I returned with “my brake light is out and I just had my car serviced last week!”. We were upset by the inconvenience these things had put on our day. The natural progression of things led us to dilute our feelings with greasy food and ice cream, which of course makes you feel like a beached whale, to which the natural comment is “I’m so fat” or “my clothes don’t fit”.
I went to bed that night contemplating our woes. How selfish were we? Majority of our worries did not even deserve a second thought compared to the other troubles that were going on in the world. We were healthy, independent, employed and for the most part very happy people with great futures in front of us, so why were we inclined to complain? and were we justified in doing so? Of course not!
I started writing a list….a list of things I felt were important in life. No amount of money or lavish items can replace this list. They are the simple things in life that we continuously take for granted.
I want to share them with you one at a time, a post a day, get your opinion, tell me why I am wrong, tell me why you agree, tell me what REALLY matters?
Be sure to subscribe so you can see the full list when it’s complete!!
